BYU clinches MWC's automatic NCAA bid

BYU clinched the Mountain West Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament Saturday with a home doubleheader sweep over Utah.

They were the final games the Cougars will play as a member of the Mountain West in the sport of softball. BYU moves to the WAC, beginning in the 2012 season.

While the Cougars grabbed the automatic bid, third-place San Diego State hopes for an at-large bid to come this evening when the NCAA Selection Show is televised on ESPNU, beginning at 7 p.m. Pacific time.

The Aztecs were 39th in the final regular season RPI, one spot better than BYU.
