The latest Ratings Percentage Index is out and both San Diego State and BYU are in line to reach the NCAA Tournament barring some unforeseen circumstances.
The Aztecs are 36th and the Cougars 39th with Selection Sunday just over a week away. With no postseason conference tournament to muddle things, San Diego State and BYU are in good shape to reach the NCAA Tournament again this season.
Here's the breakdown of where each MWC team stands in the RPI:
36 San Diego State
39 Brigham Young
103 New Mexico
218 Colorado State
Other teams in the West considered locks for the NCAA Tournament: Cal (RPI of 4), Arizona State (6), Arizona (8), Washington (11), Stanford (15), UCLA (17), Oregon (20), Long Beach State (30) and future MWC member Fresno State (32). The Bulldogs have defeated both BYU and San Diego State head-to-head this season.
Possible bubble teams include Pacific (46) and Hawai'i (57).
