Aztecs' Micetich one-hits USD; Lobos get swept

In non-conference games Wednesday, San Diego State came out a winner when Bailey Micetich tossed a complete-game, 1-hitter to beat local rival USD.

Also Wednesday, New Mexico continued to have trouble against strong competition.  The Lobos were swept in a doubleheader against No. 13/12 Arizona, falling to the Wildcats 8-1 in the opener and 5-0 in the nightcap.

San Diego State won its fourth straight game in the win over the Toreros. In games versus teams with winning records, New Mexico has now dropped 11 in a row.  After starting the season 17-2, UNM is now 7-11 in its past 18 games.

San Diego State, tied atop the MW with Boise State at 3-0, travels to Albuquerque for a 3-game series beginning tomorrow.  New Mexico has yet to play a conference game this season.  Despite a 24-13 overall record, UNM has not defeated a team with a winning record since February 23.
