Saturday's results: A lot of runs for MW teams

Saturday's results

Fresno State 11, Appalachian State 3 (6 innings) - The Bulldogs run-ruled the defending Southern Conference champions in Tempe by jumping out to an early lead and coasting.  Fresno State scored six runs in the first inning on six hits and never looked back.  Stesha Brazil was one of five Bulldogs players with multiple-hit games. She finished with four RBI and now has a total of nine thru four games.

Utah State 12, East Carolina 3 (5 innings) - The Aggies got a run-rule rout of the Pirates in St. George, Utah, with pitcher Noelle Johnson going the distance.

New Mexico 11, UC Riverside 10 - The Lobos jumped to a big 7-run lead and held on in a squeaker over the Highlanders.  Jasmine Casados hit her first career home run for New Mexico in the win.

Fresno State 8, UC Riverside 1 - Jill Compton tossed a complete-game 3-hitter as the Bulldogs blasted the Highlanders.  Michelle Solomon went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, and four RBI.

San Jose State 6, Cal Poly 5 (8 innings) - The Spartans clipped the Mustangs in extra innings inTempe.  It marked the first time in five games this season that SJSU did not reach double-digits in the runs column. A 3-run top of the eighth (with the ITB in effect) gave SJSU a 6-3 lead before Cal Poly responded with two in the bottom of the frame.

San Jose State 10, Indiana 7 - It's a perfect 5-0 start on the season for the Spartans after a late rally was enough to overcome the Hoosiers.  A pair of sixth inning home runs broke a 7-all tie for San Jose State.

Idaho State 11, Nevada 5 - Old nemesis Idaho State did it again.  The Bengals beat the Wolf Pack for the fourth time in the last two seasons with a victory in St. George, Utah.  The teams met four times last season, with Idaho State winning three times.

Portland State 10, New Mexico 0 (5 innings) - The Vikings scored every time they came to bat in a romp over the Lobos.  UNM had four hits in the game, and Lobos starter Lisa Rodrigues gave up six runs (five earned) in 2 2/3 innings.

NC State 6, Boise State 1 - Wolfpack pitcher Emily Weiman made sure her NC State team didn't lose to a Mountain West team for the second game in a row.  After losing to Fresno State Friday, NC State used a pair of 3-run innings to power past the Broncos.  Weiman earned the complete-game win.
