There was a stunning upset Monday involving a Mountain West softball team, as San Diego State was shut out on its home field by previously-winless Lehigh by a 3-0 score. In a game that was postponed from Sunday because of rain, the Aztecs were stymied all game long and committed three errors too. Now 18 games into the season, SDSU (11-7) has won just one time when Danielle O'Toole hasn't pitched in the game. Andi Smith started, went five innings and took the loss, while Erica Romero came on to pitch two innings of hitless relief. Lehigh entered the game 0-5 on the season.
Elsewhere, Utah State made up two games that were rained out over the weekend in San Diego. The Aggies were shut out 5-0 by Ole Miss, but defeated Utah of the Pac-12 by an 8-5 score. It was Utah State's first win over its in-state rival since the 2008 season.
