UNLV gets run-ruled at home by Utah on Monday

In a rare Monday morning game, UNLV came up on the short end of a 10-2 (six innings) run-rule loss to Utah in Las Vegas.  The Rebels scored a pair of runs in the first inning on a 2-run home run by Merina Ili to go in front 2-0.  From that point on, it was all Utah.  The Utes scored five runs in the second -- all with two outs.  UNLV starter Morgan Ettinger gave up a home run before being replaced with pitcher Francesca Foti, who gave up a grand slam later in the inning.  Utah kept piling it on, scoring in every inning but the fifth, and then adding three more in the sixth to put the run rule into effect.  After the first inning, the Rebels didn't have a hit until the sixth.  UNLV fell to 5-4, while Utah moved to 7-4 on the year.
